Sector 7

At the center of every anarchy is an old boys network.

Today I want to talk about the super secret organization that acts as a central hub tying all of the other super secret organizations together. This seems like a good day to set something like that up.

3. Hexagon, Part 1.

Conspiracy theorists across time have always described an organization that operates behind the scenes, manipulating world affairs and maintaining the world order through subtle means. A savvy person who pays attention to current events over time could point out numerous examples of things that didn’t make sense, where the narrative didn’t seem to fit quite the circumstances of their telling. One thing about these stories always remained consistent: there was an organization behind everything. The conspiracy theorists were only half-right.

The world is far bigger and far too complicated for any one single organization to achieve such ascendance on its own. Instead, local needs and bureaucratic chicanery resulted in the creation of multiple top secret super specialized organizations with jurisdictional overlap and little in the way of communication or connectivity. That coupled with the fact that one needed a clearance level to even know about their existence created a bottleneck of interdepartmental mayhem and conflict. A solution was needed. Enter the Hexagon.

For illustrative effect; not to scale.

Under the authority of the Terran Council, a galactic meta-government formed in secret according to an interstellar law the population was blissfully unaware of, every legitimate intelligence organization operating on planet earth was required to interface and maintain a dialogue with the Hexagon. While the Hexagon was not given any acting control over these organizations, its purpose was to maintain peace and order while allowing information to spread in a timely manner between organizations who were otherwise unaware of each others existence. While this was good in principle, it had did have its drawbacks. Organizations who failed to comply were branded as criminal. And thus began the Shadow Wars.

I always feel like somebody’s watching me, and I have no privacy.

What caused the formation of so many secret organizations?
What was that about interstellar law?
What did the Shadow Wars involve?
Until next time,
Thank you;
