Baby, if you’ve ever wondered…wondered… whatever became of me.

I think of you and lick my lips.

There’s a certain magic that comes with new people. Everything is fresh and exciting. It can even be scary. Yet I find myself compelled to expand my horizons and continue exploring the world in all of it’s splendorous color. It would be really easy to just write people off based on superficial reasons alone, to describe everyone who doesn’t conform to a certain set of normative values as a member of the outgroup and someone who be cast off, ignored, or even resisted. All too often I encounter people so bent out of shape by ideology that they fail to see the world right in front of them. That’s why when I meet someone new, I make it a point to smile and listen. People will tell you what you need to know if you only let them.

Say your prayers, little one.

This is How We Do It — Montell Jordan
Pay attention.

I was asked today by a friend how I was able to remain so calm and chill while surrounded by people I had never met before. I was simply steady jamming with the beat in my own head. I feel the beat of the rhythm of life and I walk in step as best as I can. I’ve talked before about opportunity and how it doesn’t always strike twice. I’ve also talked about the importance of being prepared in those situations. I see every new encounter as an opportunity to enrich my life exponentially. There is so much to every single human being that it’s a fascinating study for me to immerse myself and learn from people radically different from me. The secret: people are never as different as they seem.

Don’t tell anyone or you’ll be just another regret.

No one else can see the preservation of the martyr in me.

I wonder why it is, then, that I really do have trouble talking to some people. If I had a guess, it would be my capacity for overthinking things and making them more insurmountable than they really have to be. This is particularly true when I think about consequences. I’m a really strong believer in maintaining the balance in my life, and certain people pose a direct threat to that balance. Ironically, it always seems to be people I like with no reasonable explanation. I use the term ‘fancy’ (ie. I fancy so-and-so) to describe my feelings towards such individuals, and there are a select few walking around. I struggle to talk to people who have struck my fancy and I have a tendency to lose the fancy when the difficulty goes away. I would be interested in knowing the facts behind the mechanics of such phenomena. It just goes to show that I’m not immune to being human.

I’m up off my knees, girl. I’m face to face with myself .

Round and Round — Ratt
I knew right from the beginning.

The thing about Life that I think people fail to realize from moment to moment is that it’s a circle. Everything runs on a cycle that repeats itself indefinitely until the loop gets broken. This ultimately defaults to a larger, more simple cycle. Sometimes you can choose your path around the circle, but there no real escape from the pattern itself. No matter how aloof or enlightened you may be in the moment, the existing connections in your life will always serve to pull you back into the drama. Drama exists to promote growth. Growth requires conflict. A person does not become his, her, or its best self by remaining comfortable.

You play hide and seek with your true intentions.

I’ve been good for most of my life.

I love how things are building upon themselves. Every step along the pattern becomes easier. Like the ancient sculptor used to say, it’s like discovering the shape of something that was already there but needed someone to give it form. It’s like channeling a force from beyond, a primal source of creation from which spews all essence of life, energy, and intelligence. All matter in the universe is merely energy condensed into slow moving wave vibrations. This includes people. At the subatomic level, the space between the particles that makes us up as people is the same black empty space of the void above, a microcosm where we see burning balls of energy surrounded by nothingness. When you learn to understand the rules, you can begin to write them for yourself.

Get on up.

That’s all for now.
